The first Gen3 Supercars season will come to an end this weekend and in a fitting finale, it will come down to the final two races.

Brodie Kostecki is in the driver’s seat to win the championship, with exiting veteran Shane van Gisbergen still in with a mathematical chance to take the title.

Erebus driver Brodie Kostecki has a 131-point lead in the championship ahead of the Kiwi van Gisbergen ahead of races 27 and 28 of the 2023 season. There are multiple ways that Kostecki can seal his first Supercars title and they are as follows.

Outscore SVG by 20 points or more in race 27.
Finish no lower than position 8 in both races 27 and 28.
Win either race and finish the other.

With the Adelaide circuit being one of the most prestigious but physically tolling races on the calendar, the result is certainly not a sure thing by any means, especially with the Coca-Cola Racing team having minor issues at the previous few rounds.

Shane van Gisbergen will also be eager to end his career on the highest of highs before he sets off to the USA to chase his NASCAR dreams.

Shane van Gisbergen and the Ampol Red Bull Racing Team have not had the same qualifying pace as Team Erebus and Brodie Kostecki. However, I have an inkling that SVG will be doing everything in his power to put pressure on Kostecki heading into the first of two races in Adelaide.

I am going to back the New Zealander to put his Gen3 Camaro at the front of the grid.

Although Brodie Kostecki wants to win the 2023 Supercars Championship with a victory, he will be driving cautiously making sure that he doesn’t fall back any further than eighth place in race 27.

Van Gisbergen will be doing all he can to win the championship from the improbable position he is in so he will take the chequered flag in race 27.
